$1,000 Milestone Unlocked!

Recently, we met a major fundraising milestone here at The Elea Project. To date, over the span of approximately 5 months, we have raised $1,021 total. We are so appreciative of the concerned members of our community who have contributed their monetary support to help end period poverty throughout the Atlanta area.

While we are endlessly grateful for the gracious donations we have received via GoFundMe, we have decided to add another fun, exciting fundraising aspect to The Elea Project. We will be hosting a T-Shirt fundraiser to be sold to supporters of the project, who are interested in contributing their funds to support donation drives held around the Atlanta area as well as partnerships in the future.

Current News: Menstrual leave in Southeast Asia

According to the World Health Forum, there are now several locations in Southeast Asia that offer menstrual leave, which is a great milestone in the fight to offer the proper healthcare support to those who menstruate worldwide. These countries include Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Indonesia: Indonesia gives women the right to two days of menstrual leave per month, which are not added to their total leave days count.

Japan: In effect for over 70 years now, the Labor Standards Law states that women who are facing painful circumstances during a period may take leave from employment for the time being. However, these leaves are not mandated to be paid leaves.

South Korea: Contrary to Japan, female employees are ensured additional pay if they take menstrual leave in South Korea.

Taiwan: In Taiwan, the Act of Gender Equality in Employment gives women three days of “menstrual leave” per year.

These milestones in Southeast Asia are a crucial part of the global effort to ensure fair reproductive healthcare legislation for women worldwide.
